It is always a hard thing to express what we feel or think inside. Trust me; I know it is. But lately, I have been trying to speak up whenever I have to. Timing is important cause nobody wants to hear your opinion when it is not asked or because is simply none of your business.
There are a lot of celebrities out there who, consciously or not, are making the difference.
Emma Watson is one of them. Most of the world knows her as Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter movies, but I have to admit, I have never seen one of those movies, so my love for Emma comes from a different place. Sure, she is my celebrity crush (I have a LOT though!) because she is HOT, and I love how she dresses, but when she stood up for feminism and had great comments for the HeForShe campaign, that's when I began to notice her. You may be in favor or against feminism, but I have to give her credit just for the simple reason of standing for what she believes in.
I am obsessed with Lena Dunham and the show Girls, most recently with #lennyletter as well (which includes her friend Jenni Konner). Girls is criticized for showing too many nude scenes, but I feel that every nude scene is entirely justified. Also, the topics are girl-empowering. Lena makes me feel more comfortable and is someone I truly admire because she embraces who she really is and is not afraid to show the whole world.
I grew up watching Hannah Montana and now I am a fan of Miley Cyrus's music. The last few years, she has drawn a lot of attention for being too naked or things like that, but she has also been working behind cameras and created the Happy Hippie Foundation, which helps homeless and LGBTQ youth. She made the Happy Hippie Presents: Backyard Sessions that proved, once more, that she IS talented and also that she will defend LGBTQ rights, which I applaud.
