If you still can't get through Bambi without a box of tissues in your lap, then don't worry: not every story about a deer is a tearjerker. This deer story, straight from Reddit user BlueCollarClassicist, is a heartwarming reminder that there are plenty of good people left in this world who will go out of their way to help our furry friends.
On Tuesday, BlueCollarClassicist shared a photo that is sure to brighten any animal lover's day. The photo depicted a boy walking with a deer, and there's more to the story than just an unlikely bond between a kid and this friendly neighborhood visitor. According to the Reddit user, the deer was actually blind, and therefore had trouble finding food. Worried that the animal would starve, the kind boy walked her from one patch of grass to the other before school. For several days, the boy made sure she had enough to eat, and then went on his way, something that completely melted his neighbor BlueCollarClassicist's heart.
In order to further help the deer, BlueCollarClassicist contacted a wildlife rehabilitation group, who then picked up the deer so that she could receive treatment. Though the boy won't get to see the deer everyday, she'll be much safer now that she's off of the street - and the boy may even get to visit the deer if he wishes.
"The little boy was by far the sweetest example of helping and caring," said the Reddit user in an updated post. "He showed a lot of love and respect and my wife and I are going to talk to his mom about a way she would want to see his act of kindness rewarded. We are going to frame this photo for them and offer to take him to the local wildlife preserve whenever he wants to go."
It sounds like this kid already has a future in wildlife preservation, and hopefully he can reunite with his deer pal - she owes him quite a lot.
