Your Selfie Could Be Sponsored by Old Navy
VentureBeat reports that Snapchat has been working with advertisers to create lenses (you know, like the one that lets you puke rainbows??) that might be ready in time for Halloween shenanigans - we can't wait to see what spooky lenses they come up with. We did love the OG zombie lens that's since been swapped out.
The price for sponsorship is not cheap: To reach Snapchat's entire audience for big events like Halloween, Thanksgiving or Black Friday, brands could pay up to $750,000 for access to Snapchat's 100 million daily users. We could totally see someone like Old Navy, who hosts MAJOR Black Friday deals each year and pours money into advertising, spending some big bucks for that kind of promotion.
Right now, advertisers use premium and curated stories, as well as Snapchat's Discover feature to reach its users, but this is the first time that brands are going to appear in your actual selfies (unless of course, you're in the habit of taking selfies with brand name products).
