There's no denying that the costume is a cute choice, with its furry lion's head hood and golden brown catsuit, but it was her caption that caused a stir when she posted it. Now, the caption reads, "Help! Can't decide on my Halloween costume this year! What do you guys think of this lion costume?" Which isn't a big deal.
Before she edited that caption though, Pop Sugar reported that it read, "What do you guys think of this cecil the lion costume?" The same Cecil the Lion who was illegally killed by an American hunter in July, and whose death got attention worldwide. Basically, that was not the best lion to reference.
After followers started flooding her post with comments about how that was an insensitive thing to say, she quickly edited the caption. There were quite a few that told those fans to lay off though, with one writing, "She is seriously just in a lion costume!!!!! Who cares!," and another writing, "She looks amazing. Team Ashley. People need to chill."
In case Ashley's post sparked any Halloween costume goals though (minus the Cecil reference), the "Deluxe Lion Costume" is on sale on Yandy.com for about $150 and a less covered-up "Cecil the Lion" suit (yup, that's the real name) for $119 with 20 percent of the proceeds from the sale of them given to a Global Conservation Organization to support global conservation initiatives.
