Running the World with Shay Mitchell
"Live your life to the fullest."
"Life is not a dress rehearsal; the curtain is up and you are on, so get out there and give it your best shot. You have this one life, and you need to live the life that is most authentic to you, and don't try to be like anybody else or live anybody else's life. You want to live your life, being who you are."
"Be nice because nothing looks pretty on a b**ch."
"My parents always told me: It's not what happens to you, it's how you look at what happens to you and your perspective on it. If I can live my life looking at everything with the glass half-full, then that's how I'm going to look at it because why look at it any other way? Be positive. People want to be around you when you're positive. They want to be around that energy. If you're not a nice person, you're not going to be attractive."
"Surround yourself with a great group of people that you genuinely like being around, and you need to love what you're doing."
"Don't underestimate your potential."
"For these auditions that I get, they'll [casting directors] will be looking for a blonde, blue-eyed girl, and I still go up for those roles, because you just never know."
"Say yes to everything."
"Never say never to anything because this is my motto: If I have this one life, I really do want to do everything that I've ever wanted to do, or try everything. I didn't grow up being like, I want to write a book and be an author, but then I did...and then I did. Whatever it is that you want to do, just because you aren't doing it currently, doesn't mean you can't go out and do it."
"Find your passion." "What I say to anybody that's wanting to start a YouTube Channel or a social media platform, is do things that you're interested in. Honestly, if I was trying to emulate somebody else's YouTube channel that I'd seen, that I was a fan of, well, that's great but what am I genuinely interested in? I honestly think it's just about finding what you're passionate about, and what you would be excited to watch, and doing that."
"Never ever ever ever ever ever give up because there were many times that I was like, am I cut out for this? Is this really what I want to do? This is really hard, or all this stuff, but I just kept on going. I think that you really have to want it more than anything and never let anybody tell you no, that's another thing. You just really need to go out and practice your craft. Take as many different acting classes as you can. If you see an acting class locally to where you live, then go out and do it. Film yourself on your camera. Just practice, practice, practice."
