Raven-Symonè Says She Discriminates Based on a Person's Name

Evidently, Raven-Symone has no chill whatsoever. In fact, the title of her former Disney series "That's So Raven" is a fitting description for the actress' #nofilter commentary as a co-host on The View.

On Friday's show, the all-female panel addressed the topic "Are You Judged By Your Name?" by airing of a clip of children saying so-called "ghetto black names," Raven chimed in with a rather inflammatory remark that has social media collectively seething.

"I'm very discriminatory against the words like the ones they were saying in those names," Raven said to co-host Whoopi Goldberg. "I'm not going to hire you if your name is Watermelon-Andrea," she continued, laughing. "It's just not going to happen. I'm not going to hire you."

Ugh. Seriously, Raven?

Already, there has been a swift online backlash against the 29-year-old openly admitting that she discriminates against people based on their names. Her racially-charged comments have spawned numerous responses from people who consider her statements insensitive and hypocritical because of her own unique name (not to mention that fact that we're not responsible for the names we're given at birth).

Obviously, The View is designed to spark conversations about relevant topics, and the hosts' strong opinions are why people watch. But we have a feeling that the result of Raven's latest transparent statements might force the show to give some much stronger consideration to who they allow to do the talking.
