Teenage Horror Story: No Starbucks in Sight
It really makes you think about the comfort we gain from having Google and friends in the palms of our hands. I had to talk to people face to face, instead of through a screen. I had to go without the three Ts: Twitter, Tumblr and texting. How did I survive without the divine triad of the modern world?
Well, it really gave me a chance to study without interruptions. Midterms are coming up for us college folk. I definitely suggest turning off your phone before trying to study. It gave me a chance to notice my surroundings. I was able to notice the beauty of nature without worrying about which Instagram filter to put over it. All photos have to match my aesthetic. Without the lack of Internet, I would have never noticed this creepy shadow in the woods. We think it is a shadow from a tree. You know, since ghosts have not been proven to be real yet!Not having a daily Pumpkin Spice Latte went better than expected! I had no signs of withdrawal. My advice to all of you is to go a day without electronics. Put the coffee down. Go and enjoy life instead of bothering with filters and hashtags. I am here to tell you that it is OK to be disconnected from WiFi and connected to your surroundings.
If I am being totally honest, I cracked after being society-deprived at the 46-hour mark. I ended up driving 40 minutes to the nearest McDonald's to use its free WiFi.
