Kate Spade's classic structured bags in bold colors have always been a treat, but her most recent collection is sure to make your mouth water. Partnering with Magnolia Bakery, a New York staple, the brand launched a cupcake-themed handbag line, adding a whole new definition to food-inspired fashion.
For those of you who have never had the delight of sinking your teeth into one of Magnolia's glorious cupcakes, let us tell you, it's like tasting a little bite of heaven with adorable, pastel frosting. Not only is the bakery a cutsey, homey spot sure to put your grandmother's recipes to shame, it's also one of Carrie and Miranda's favorite spots back from the Sex and the City days. Even now, you can see lines forming down the streets of Greenwich Village (the original location - they've since expanded), as New Yorkers follow their noses to the enticing scents of butter mixed with sugar.
But now, Magnolia (which we always considered to be art) has been turned into fashion. From purses shaped like cupcakes with rich, pink butter cream to cookbook clutches and bags that resemble pastry boxes, Kate Spade has officially become the baker of the accessory world. The best part? Kate even went and made a bag shaped like Magnolia's most famous item: its creamy banana pudding, which you can now fill with all of your prized belongings (and maybe actual banana pudding?).
The line launched Oct. 12 with prices ranging between $78 and $348. Even if you're not a New Yorker, do your sweet tooth a favor and consider rocking this delectable arm candy.
