At this year's Beautycon, I saw so many new and fun trends, but there was one that stood out above the rest: the Rainbow Brow. That's right, brows on fleek is taking on a whole new definition, with boring dark brows being thrown to the wayside in favor of bold color palettes that you can blend together to match your new galactic ombre. I swear, Miley Cyrus will be rocking these soon, and you heard it here first!
The trend is all thanks to the new makeup brand Winky Lux, pioneered by co-creators Natalie Mackey and Nathan Newman, who steer away from typical cosmetics and offer bold, bright palettes sure to make a statement in your next selfie. The best part? All products are drugstore prices. Featured in gorgeous, floral packaging, the line has products spanning from matte lipsticks inspired by modern art, contour powder for your inner Kim K, long-lasting glosses, "crushed diamond" eyeshadow shades and eye creams.
But there is one we are absolutely over the moon about, and that is the Winky Lux Rainbow Brow ($24, Winky Lux) palette.
I didn't lie when we said the packaging was gorgeous! And the product is a lot easier to use than you think. Even I, who never touches her brows aside from the occasional tweezing, was able to create a gorgeous, blended rainbow look that I'll be using for my next night out.
As you can see, the kit comes with four bright colors and a wax on the end to make application smoother. Each color comes in a powder formula (which the wax helps to keep in place), that you can spread onto the brow for as bold or as mild a shade as you want. What's more, you can blend the colors together to make other fun shades. For example, I found the pink and blue make an amazing, deep purple.
This is the end result that one of Winky Lux's reps did for me at Beautycon. The rainbow effect is subtle here, but you can see how nicely the colors transition into one another. To achieve this, apply the blue to your inner corners and blend it out with the pink. Then apply the red to your arch, and finally finish it off with the yellow. Here, the representative put a little bit of yellow right on my inner corner too to add a hit of green. It looks so fierce, I couldn't help but show it off on Instagram!
This is me having replicated the look at home. Instead of doing full-out rainbow brows, I decided to blend my blue with my pink to achieve a nice deep purple, adding some yellow hues to the end. The beauty of this palette is you can do just about anything you want! Want bolder brows? Apply more color to make them more pigmented. Want to keep them solid pink? You can do that, too! There's so much room for creativity, and I am so addicted to trying new looks.
