There are so many reasons you might pull up Amazon in your web browser - but finding the coolest clothes is probably not one of them, as suggested by this Business of Fashion article.
Sure, Amazon is a great place to go when you know exactly what you want and you are shopping around for the best price. But there are far better online destinations when you want a trend-driven browsing experience. As a result, Amazon has tried to keep up with multi-platform, curatorial shopping sites by building up Amazon Fashion.
Now, Amazon might have a private-label clothing line in the works, it announced at the WWD Apparel and Retail CEO Summit on Tuesday, according to Buzzfeed. Part of the problem is that brands don't want to put certain items on the site, but customers are still looking for them. As a result, Amazon has some gaps in the marketplace to fill.
It seems like there's definitely a market for an increase in apparel options: 40 million people shop Amazon Fashion, not to mention access to a loyal cohort of Amazon Prime shoppers who love their free two-day shipping. I mean, why would you buy a plain white tee anywhere else if you can get it from Amazon faster?
So, are you looking forward to shopping Amazon for the season's essentials, or are you convinced that other retailers are straight-up doing fashion better?
