Sure, Etsy is a veritable treasure trove for jewelry, décor and other things that your entire squad likely doesn't already own. But haven't you ever ordered a sweet, delicate, handmade ring from Etsy and thought, "OMG, I CANNOT LIVE FOR ANOTHER DAY without that ring on my finger?!?!"
Etsy ASAP comes in. As part of their holiday push this year, the crafty ecommerce site is launching a pilot program that allows New York City residents to purchase more than 5,000 items from local shops with same-day or next-day delivery in Manhattan, Queens and parts of Brooklyn, reports Adweek. If you've ever ordered anything from Etsy, you know how much of a crap chute shipping can be (shops handle it themselves, so the experience can either be really great or leave you hanging for weeks).
Here's how it works: You can filter items on the site or in the mobile app to show only products participating in Etsy ASAP. For a flat rate of $20, you can choose one of three delivery time windows. Orders placed after 7 p.m. will be delivered the following day. The delivery, which is carried out through Postmates, can be tracked in real time by both the seller and the shopper.
This service might make the site our new go-to for last-minute gifts or what-am-I-gonna-wear moments. Good thinking, Etsy!
