New Focus Features film Suffragette is not only serving as a reminder of women's violent struggle for voting rights 100 years ago, but today, it launched a social movement for the world to share their hopes for the next generation of girls.

As a reminder of the strides we've made, on October 23, 1915, women paraded down Fifth Avenue in New York City to support the women's suffrage movement, according to TIME. Women wouldn't actually get the right to vote until four years later. SMH.

While women's rights have come a long way in the last century, we still are far from gender equality. We are still fighting for equal pay, the right to an education and freedom from sexual harassment, as seen in this video.

Focus, with some help from Suffragette star Carey Mulligan, is asking you to share your hope for future generations by posting a photo of yourself holding a message using hashtag #HopeForOurDaughters. For every post, Focus Features will donate $1 to Equality Now, and you can learn more about the movement here. Today, switch up your normal selfie and share your hopes for the future - you could be instrumental in making it actually happen!

What an awesome example of #BUILTBYGIRLS: Women building a better future for the next generation!
