- Right-click on the three-dot icon
- Click "Share"
- Then click "Send To"
- Type in my friend's name
- Click on her name
- Then hope that she'll check their Spotify inbox (seriously, who does that?)
What always ends up happening is a week later I ask my friend if she's listened to the song I've sent her yet, and she has no idea what I'm talking about. So, I'm forced to just copying the share URL and text it to her.
Facebook has heard our frustrations, friends, and they've introduced Facebook Music. Facebook Music is integrated with Spotify and Apple Music (for now), and provides an easy sharing workflow. Copy and paste the share link into your Facebook post, and a short preview of the song will show up, allowing for your friends and family to listen to what you're jamming to (let's face it, they're checking their Facebook more than anything else anyway.) From there, they can click on the link and be taken directly to the song from whatever platform the share URL is connected to.
Right now the feature is only available for iOS, and when it's eventually available for Android, Facebook will have to work out the whole iTunes download deal, but it will probably have integrated with more music platforms by then.
Let's hope that soon Spotify and Apple Music will add a "share to Facebook" now button, taking out another step of us copying and pasting into our Facebook status. For now, it at least takes away a few steps in sharing your favorite jams with your besties.
Tweet me your favorite new jam @lizprugh.
