We have to say some of the lyrics line up pretty well as a response to all those songs about Harry on Tay's album 1989, but there's a lot of crazy reaching going on too.
Also? Harry didn't write every song on the album, so why would the other guys reference his ex-girlfriend?
Shrug. Half the fun is picking these things apart and speculating.
We don't have to rehash the similarities about "Perfect" and Taylor's "Style" (you can check out the mashup, music video comparison, and James Corden's teasing), but here's a new one: someone noticed that both "Perfect" and Taylor's "Style" are the exact same length! Hmm.
Then there's 1D's "End of the Day," which references a hospital visit ("Sure the night was over, I said it's forever, twenty minutes later wound up in the hospital"), which lines up a bit with "Out of the Woods" and that snowmobile ride that ended with "20 stitches in the hospital room."
Looking at One Direction's "What a Feeling" vs. Taylor's "Blank Space," there's a whole King/Queen mention that maybe (or maybe not) saying something:
One Direction's "Olivia" includes the lyrics: "Remember the day when we've given up, when you told me I didn't give you enough" and "I get the feeling you're walking out."
Compare that to Taylor's "Out of the Woods": "Remember when we couldn't take the heat, I walked out and said 'I'm setting you free.'"
Oh, and Taylor has a cat named Olivia. So...
Yeah. That's a major stretch, we think.
