Robert Pattinson is playing a dad in a movie. We'll let that sit for a minute.
In the upcoming film Life, he's not only playing a father to a young son, he's portraying one we'd never want to have (gasp). This is clear in a newly released clip from the drama, which shows Rob as terrible dad and Life magazine photographer Dennis Stock, sharing a moment with his son.
In less than a minute, this father and son duo have a non-existent relationship as Dennis scolds his little boy for playing with his camera instead of using it to take photos. According to Gossip Cop, the film tells the true story of Dennis and his relationship with James Dean (Dane DeHaan), and the friendship they formed as they traveled across the country in the early 1950s for a Life magazine story.
"At my age, you don't get too many chances to play a dad, and certainly not one who leaves his family," Rob reportedly told German magazine Jolie, about why he wanted to take on the role. He added that he sees his future fatherhood "differently."
As for when the 29-year-old Twilight alum will have kids of his own, he said he definitely wants children, but "I just don't know when." Rob did say he thinks his kids will be "totally cool and confident," but will probably wonder why he's so "weird" and "eccentric."
Considering he's reportedly engaged to his girlfriend FKA Twigs, he might get started on that family sooner than we think.
