Lisa Sarber Aldrich shows the internet how far a good sense of humor and a kind heart can go. In an age in which everyone seems to be offended by well...everything, Lisa demonstrated an act of kindness that this Meijer supermarket employee will never forget.

Lisa thought she was speaking to a "bakery looking employee" when she asked her to write Happy Birthday Mandy on a cake. When the employee gave Lisa her cake, she didn't think much of its appearance. In fact, she thought her friends would find it funny.

"I looked her in the eye and said thank you before I even looked at the cake. After looking, I nervously laughed and headed to check out - it didn't really matter to me that it looked so bad - I thought people would think it was funny," Lisa wrote in a post on Facebook.

Cashiers took quickly to react to the cake, even taking photos and calling in managers.

To my surprise, after they discussed it, one cashier put her arm on my shoulder and said, "The girl who wrote that has autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her - even though she's not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day," she added.

Sometimes just rolling through life with a smile pays more than any dollar amount.
