American Horror Story: Hotel is almost over, but before the new season of AHS starts up again in October, we'll be treated to another American story - this time one that's directly ripped from the headlines. The American Horror Story team has released a trailer for their new anthology series American Crime Story, which will be about the infamous O.J. Simpson trial and the media spectacle that came with it. As the trailer shows, a young Kris Jenner was at the center of it, and it paints this reality star in a way that we've never seen her.
Football star O.J. was on trial for the murders of O.J.'s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman, the former of whom Kris was good friends with. In the trailer, we see Kris (portrayed by Selma Blair in the series) talking to one-time Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills cast member Faye Resnik (Connie Britton) about whether O.J., also a friend of the Kardashian family, could have really killed Nicole. Faye tells Kris that it's possible: Nicole was "so afraid" of O.J. before her death. Later, Kris confronts her ex-husband Robert Kardashian (Friends' David Schwimmer) about choosing to work on O.J.'s defense team - Kris wants to do the right thing by Nicole, and Robert wants to stand by O.J. The Kardashian family has discussed the O.J. Simpson trial in the press, stating that it was a time of divide for their family. Though Kris and Robert had already divorced at the time of the trial, they remained amicable, and ultimately had to deal with the aftermath of this devastating loss and upheaval.
Kris' side of this story is by no means the most significant part of the trial or of this new series, but it is interesting to see how a staple of 2015 media will be portrayed onscreen. It seems that Selma is doing Kris justice in the trailer, and hopefully the rest of the series continues to do so for all of the people who were involved in the real-life case.
