Full disclosure: I'm a huge dog person. I also happen to be a huge greyhound person (yes, we exist, and we're really, really cool.) That's why this story about a woman who dedicated her time to keeping these adorable dogs warm in the winter is pulling at all of my heartstrings - and it should inspire lots of other animal lovers to follow her example!

According to The Mirror, Jan Brown, 52, from Seaburn, Sunderland, has hand-knitted over 300 sweaters to give to homeless greyhounds over the holidays. She has spent over 4,000 hours on her charity project, and has gotten so many orders since she started that she quit her job to knit dog sweaters full time. Since the sweaters are Christmas gifts, she tries to make them as festive as possible - and we're sure that the dogs very much appreciate it:Greyhounds are naturally very thin and have little fat on their bodies (remember all of that controversy with Kylie Jenner's Italian greyhound Bambi?) so they could use a little extra padding in the wintertime. Many greyhounds end up in rescue centers after their dog racing days are over, and while it's a better life than being abandoned, the centers don't always have the resources to give the dogs the "extras" that they need. Jan says:

The rescue homes have to spend the money they raise on vets bills and nursing the dogs back to health so my coats help them to prioritize their money...It feels like I'm knitting and sewing all the time, I'm never doing anything else - but I know it's all worth it.

Thanks to Jan, greyhounds that are not rehomed will get a snuggly present this Christmas - and look totally adorable in it.
