According to The Mirror, Jan Brown, 52, from Seaburn, Sunderland, has hand-knitted over 300 sweaters to give to homeless greyhounds over the holidays. She has spent over 4,000 hours on her charity project, and has gotten so many orders since she started that she quit her job to knit dog sweaters full time. Since the sweaters are Christmas gifts, she tries to make them as festive as possible - and we're sure that the dogs very much appreciate it:Kylie Jenner's Italian greyhound Bambi?) so they could use a little extra padding in the wintertime. Many greyhounds end up in rescue centers after their dog racing days are over, and while it's a better life than being abandoned, the centers don't always have the resources to give the dogs the "extras" that they need. Jan says:
Thanks to Jan, greyhounds that are not rehomed will get a snuggly present this Christmas - and look totally adorable in it.
The rescue homes have to spend the money they raise on vets bills and nursing the dogs back to health so my coats help them to prioritize their money...It feels like I'm knitting and sewing all the time, I'm never doing anything else - but I know it's all worth it.
