Melissa Rivers was super close with her mother, the late comedian and Fashion Police co-host Joan Rivers. Now, the TV personality gets to do something that few daughters have the chance to do for their moms: portray her onscreen in a major movie.

Melissa revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she was asked by director David O. Russell to play her late mother Joan in new Jennifer Lawrence film Joy, which hits theaters this Christmas. Joan passed away in September of 2014, so this role was a unique way for Melissa to commemorate her late mom. Though Melissa admitted that she was nervous about taking on the role, she knew that she had to say yes to this awesome opportunity. The clip from the new film shows that she totally nailed it - and her mom would be very proud.

Melissa portrays Joan during the time in Joan's life when she was a host of QVC, where Jennifer's character Joy goes to promote a product. Melissa looks incredibly like her mom in this scene, and is appropriately giving Jennifer's character fashion Advice in the new clip - though it's a lot nicer than the "advice" Joan dished out to celebs on Fashion Police:

Though I'm sure many actresses would have loved the chance to play Joan onscreen, Melissa is the one who knew Joan better than anyone - there's no one who would have made a more convincing Ms. Rivers.
