Sa'fyre Terry's father and three siblings were killed in an arson fire in Schenectady, New York in 2013 when she was only five, according to ABC News. The fire not only took her family, but burned 75 percent of her body and eventually left her without her right arm and left foot.
When Sa'fyre was found at the time, she was next to her dad, who had used his body to protect her from the flames. Now she's living with her aunt, Liz Dolder, and for Christmas this year, the latest dolls and toys aren't the things on her list. Instead, Sa'fyre told her aunt, Liz Dolder, she only wants Christmas cards from all over the world.
Her aunt sprung into action, giving her a gold metal Christmas tree stand for her cards and posting a note on Facebook about Sa'Fyre's wish, along with a request for cards to be sent to the post office.
In spite of everything that she's gone through, Sa'fyre has been courageous and uplifting. Her aunt describes her as "spunky, a go-getter, and hilarious." Liz added, "She loves to dress up. She loves to feel pretty. She wants to be a pop star...[she's the] most popular girl at school."
In addition to the cards, Baking Memories 4 Kids charity is going to give the family a trip to Walt Disney World, which they'll visit in February.
Considering this is the season of giving, if you're looking for a way to give back or put a smile on someone's face, think about sending a card to Sa'fyre. To mail her one, address your card to: Sa'fyre Terry, P.O. Box 6126, Schenectady, N.Y. 12306.
