One of the saddest realizations I had after moving from Alabama to Northern California is that I had to give up being a loyal patron to some of my favorite restaurants. Not just my favorite BBQ joints, diners, and fried seafood dives, but also pizza. One of my all-time favorite places to grab a pie is Mellow Mushroom - a pizza chain that's been around on the East Coast since the 1970s and themes all its restaurants like Alice in Wonderland. Yup. And now they've gone and done something even cooler than that and decided to go into the fashion business.
With the clever title of House of Shroom, Mellow Mushroom is merging two of our favorite things: pizza and fashion. And as the curator of the collection, Elizabeth Brasch pointed out to The Miami New Times, it isn't at all about trying to promote their restaurant (though I can vouch for it - it is good), "We are truly looking for this to be a lifestyle brand. Whether or not you eat our pizza, you can still wear the shirts and feel good about them." She said. And the styles range from shirts with unicorns + hamsters, to pandas eating pizza, to throwback styles of the Cheshire Cat digging into his own slice.
And while you're waiting on the pizza delivery guy, you can order any of these styles for last-minute holiday shopping gifts or, yanno, just for yourself. Because you need a cool new hoodie to rock while you're rewatching Alice in Wonderland and destroying a pepperoni pie.
