Here's the app's description:
Once you sign up through Facebook, the app grabs your birthday, collecting which astrological sign you are. From there, the app has you choose emojis that best fit your traits:
Powered by astrological knowledge and a modern interface, Align offers millennials an alternative to traditional dating apps focused on connections based in outward facing interests and taglines. Launched in 2015 in Los Angeles, Align is now available in New York City and San Francisco, and as a free download in the Apple App Store.
Once your profile is set up (it also has a specific color based on your sign, i.e. yellow is for "air signs"), your home page - called your "Constellation" - will start to populate. Based on how big the "stars" are (your matches) shows you know how well you're astrologically matched. Your Constellation stays live for 24 hours then refreshes with new matches.
If you choose to "align" with your star, you both can start sharing messages. Does this put you in "binary" mode? (Sorry, I had to.) The app is available on iOS in Los Angeles, New York City, and the San Francisco Bay area.
The app has a great user interface and is appealing to millennials - I'm curious to see what connections have actually been made. Download the app for free and tweet me your thoughts @lizprugh. (I'd try it out myself, but I think that would piss off my husband. #BinaryMode)
