Particularly, Miss Germany, who placed unranked, but still went on a rant about the moment Steve Harvey announced the wrong winner of the pageant, throwing major shade at Miss Philippines while she was at it.
When Missosology asked Sarah-Lorraine Riek for her reaction to the mix-up, she said, "I really couldn't believe it, I was so upset. For me (she was robbed) as the real winner...I was very happy for Miss Colombia because she really deserved it. I'm really not happy with the result and so are the other girls, I'm sorry to say it."
"None of us voted for Miss Philippines," she continued with a laugh, adding, "that's probably the most awful situation ever. Like a nightmare. You get crowned Miss Universe, there's so many feelings and then they take away the crown. I'm so sorry for [Miss Colombia]."
Aside from Miss Germany's shade, the truth is it really was an awful and jaw-dropping moment to watch. For several minutes, Miss Colombia not only thought she won, but was crowned, a sash was draped on her, she was waving, throwing up the peace sign and posing for photos...before Steve walked back on stage and dropped the bombshell that he had misread the winner/runner-ups card in his hand.
After the show was over, Steve (who probably felt like hiding under a rock) tweeted out a heartfelt apology, writing, "I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible."
