The second half of Season 6 of Pretty Little Liars premieres on Jan. 12, but we don't have to wait that long to dive into some serious show gossip. This week, PLL fans collectively freaked out when showrunner I. Marlene King seemingly announced in an interview with Variety that Pretty Little Liars would end after Season 7. But is that the truth?! According to Marlene, we may need to reevaluate her comments.

Pretty Little Liars was renewed for both Season 6 and Season 7 in the summer of 2014, much to the delight of fans who want PLL to last as long as humanely possible. (Can these girls be grannies and still running from A? I'd totally watch!) So far there has been no word of a renewal past Season 7, but given that the show has such a strong fan base, many people assumed that the series would live on past its current renewal. That's why, when Marlene told Variety that the storyline of the new A would end in Season 7, it seemed like she was saying that the show as a whole would as well - but, apparently, that's not the case.

Marlene took to Twitter to clarify what her comments about the end of the PLL story meant, and fans can officially breathe:For the record, this tweet doesn't necessarily mean that PLL won't end with Season 7 - just that Marlene didn't make any official statements about the end of the show. Ultimately it will be up to the cast and crew whether to continue with PLL past Season 7, but if they choose to do so, the PLL Army will definitely be onboard for another round.
