When it comes to dressing up for holiday parties, we always get the most excited about New Year's Eve. Sure, it's fun rocking around the tree in your red and green finest, but there's something so magical about being able to bust out your most glamorous glitz and ring the new year in with style. That's why this year we're getting a head start on what's sure to be 2016's greatest throwback fashion: Velvet. Not only is it form-fitting and comfy, it reminds us of those glorious '90s days when we rocked out on our Hit Clips to the Spice Girls.

Yeah, we're all about it.

To give you some great ideas for how to stun your New Year's crowd with some on point velvet game, these are our three favorite dresses.

1. Showing a Little Skin
Velvet Dress1

There's nothing more timeless than classic, black velvet and we're opting for this sleeveless, sweetheart neckline dress with an A-line skirt ($36, Chicwish). With cut out sides, this dress adds just a touch of sexiness without being too much. Since nothing looks better with black than red, a pair of strappy red, suede heels with a peep-toe are our go-to ($29, Lulus) and we're finishing it all off with a double V collar necklace in gold ($29, Gilt) to complement the dress' neckline. This look is equal parts classy and fun and will be sure to look great no matter what the night holds.

2. Oh, Baby!
Velvet Dress2

If you have no qualms about sticky boobs or are completely okay with going bra-less, we recommend this gorgeous maroon velvet dress with a plunging neckline and A-line skirt ($69, Urban Outfitters). To keep things funky but add some height, we're all about the suede, lace-up platform booties with the chunky heel ($45, Shoe Center) and a thick, silver bangle ($40, Chicos) for a nice, jewelry accent. Yeah, we're expecting a New Year's kiss with this look.

3. Off the Shoulder
Velvet Dress3

If you want an Audrey Hepburn look with a '90s twist, we recommend this black, off the shoulder dress with a tight, midi skirt ($23.99, Macy's). Because we're obsessed with lace-up everything this season, we're pairing this dress with lace-up, strappy black heels ($45, Public Desire) to stun in an all-black outfit. Finally, we're really throwing it back to the '90s by bringing back our favorite chokers, this one with a gold charm ($48, Revolve Clothing). Now, all we need is Salem and we're killing the Sabrina the Teenage Witch game circa 1997.

2016, you better get ready.
