Always' New #LikeAGirl Video Encourages Young Women To "Keep Playing"
After calling out the lack of diverse and dynamic female emojis, the brand partnered with soccer star and Olympic gold medalist Alex Morgan to release its new "Keep Playing" video under their #LikaAGirl campaign that highlights the value of sports in young women's lives and the different ways society tries to discourage them from playing.
Additionally, Always shared alarming new data regarding girls' interaction with sports:
· By age 17, at the end of puberty, more than half of girls (51%) will have quit sports
· 67% of girls feel that society does not encourage them to play sports
· A 2015 US consumer data study found that women ages 18-24 are twice as likely to be confident if they play sports regularly than those who do not play at all
Like Demi Lovato says, "What's wrong with being confident?" Not. A. Damn. Thing. But girls should have the opportunity to thrive with a strong self-esteem from an early age.
