In the summer, I'm all about that minimal, melt-free makeup. So when I got invited to attend the LA stop of Meghan Trainor's (see what I did there?) Untouchable Tour presented by the Tampax and Always Radiant Collection at the Greek Theater, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to try out COVERGIRL'S new Clean Matte BB Cream.
The oil-free formula promises the "perfect amount of coverage to even skin tone and hide blemishes." It also isn't supposed to clog pores while keeping you shine-free. That was all music to my ears on what had to be one of the hottest days so far in #Summer16 - that type of weather where merely existing while fresh out of the shower causes you to sweat.
While I had every intention to use CG's Clean Matte BB Cream the day of the concert, I noticed a bunch of red spots on my face prior to starting my beauty regimen. UGH. I blame the heat wave. I knew the lightweight coverage just wasn't going to do it for me this time. Fortunately, there's a Liquid Foundation in the collection that I had handy.
As I applied the foundation in Buff Beige, I was happy with the coverage I was getting. Although it took a couple of layers to mask the redness, it didn't feel heavy at all. It did, however, sting a little bit but the exceptional red patches on my face were most likely the reason for my sensitivity. And while I couldn't help but perspire throughout the day (above 90-degree temps in a crowded outdoor theater will do that to ya!), I didn't feel it on my face. It was as if the formula created a barrier between my skin and the sweat.
Another thing to note is that the CG Super Sizer Fibers Mascara is the bomb. I used it to enhance my eye makeup and it beautifully separated my lashes while providing definition.
After an evening of dancing to Meghan Trainor ("Me Too," "NO" and her other hits are incredible live, btw), I woke up the next morning and I swear my skin actually looked better. For one thing, the redness was gone. 🙌 Also, my complexion seemed brighter.
If that doesn't convince you to give CG's Clean Matte line of products a try, how about this: Meghan told me I looked "beautiful" during my meet-and-greet with her backstage. OK, the sassy songstress only said that after I complimented her first. Whatever 😉
As for the BB Cream, I had no issues with it during the days following the concert aka one of the best nights of my life! Yes, it was still hotter than heck in Southern California. But the "Warm" shade kept me even and fresh. And if you're trying extra hard to minimize shine (I personally don't mind it), the line's Pressed Powder should do the trick.
In closing, I'm going to go ahead and leave this selfie with the queen right here. Cue the "If I was you, I'd wanna be me too" line that I haven't been able to get out of my head 💅
