Fifth Harmony's Normani Kordei is the latest celebrity to take a break from Twitter over the racism she faced from bigoted trolls.
The singer took to the platform Saturday to announce that she would be quitting Twitter for the time being. It seemingly all began after trolls targeted Kordei over her commitment to the girl group, which then spiraled into hateful comments.
She called the racially charged online abuse "horrific."
"I am not the first black female celebrity to deal with this and I'm sure I won't be the last," she wrote. "Hiding behind a computer and putting people down, especially for the color of their skin, doesn't make you cool, it makes you a coward!"
To Twitter's credit, Kordei said the company ― which came under fire after failing to shut down the racist abuse of "Ghostbusters" star Leslie Jones fast enough ― responded immediately.
Celebrities and fans alike tweeted their love and support for Kordei with the hashtags #WeLoveYouNormani and #IStandWithNormani.
