Miley Cyrus

Singer and actress Miley Cyrus, the daughter of famed country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, got her start playing a regular tween with a secret double life as a pop star on the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. In 2007, Miley followed her dad’s footsteps into the music industry by releasing her debut solo album, "Meet Miley Cyrus." She followed it up with her sophomore album "Breakout" in 2008.

After breaking out as a Disney Channel television star, she moved on to film, working on such movies as LOL, Hannah Montana: The Movie and So Undercover. Miley starred in The Last Song in 2010, where she met her future boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. Miley and Liam got engaged in 2012, but called it off the following year.

When Miley stepped back on the music scene in 2013, she became known as the pioneer behind a single word: twerk. Miley's twerking on the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards made national headlines when she gave what some termed a lap dance to Robin Thicke.

Some of Miley's hit songs include "See You Again," "Party in the USA," "Can't Be Tamed" and "We Can't Stop." The lyrics to her song "Wrecking Ball" reportedly call out former fiancée Liam.

Miley is known for being outrageous and shocking people. She's gone so far as to show some nipple and pose nude in magazines. She also has a reputation for being open about smoking weed. Her considerable amount of weight loss before returning to the music scene fueled rumors that the star has struggled with abuse of other drugs, but those reports have never been confirmed. Miley surprised fans in a totally different way, by bringing a homeless friend as her date to the VMAs in 2014, to draw attention to the plight of homeless teens.
