It's a brand new year which means a new crop of fresh faces are about to invade the entertainment world. Entertainment Weekly, E! News, Access Hollywood and more have made their list of stars to watch in 2011, so I have decided to make our own list.
Here's my picks for 10 faces to watch in 2011. Some started to make their breakout last year but I feel they will hit the big time in 2011. In no particular order:
-Andrew Garfield – Andrew first caught my eye a few years ago in a British indie flick called Boy A. While he didn't speak much in the role, the emotions he portrayed on screen had me glued to the TV. And of course, 2010 was big for Andrew as he drew major attention for his outstanding acting in The Social Network. He also starred in Never Let Me Go in 2010, but get ready for him as Peter Parker in the Spider-Man reboot alongside Emma Stone. Check out the first photo from the movie here.
-Hailee Steinfeld – The 14-year-old has made appearances on various TV shows, but she made her big screen debut this year in True Grit alongside Oscar winners Matt Damon & Jeff Bridges. For her first role, Steinfeld held her own amongst these stars and has even garnered big award talk.
-Elle Fanning – The little sister of Dakota Fanning is breaking out on her own and making a name for herself. Besides starring in The Nutcracker 3D, Elle earned rave reviews for her starring role opposite Stephen Dorff in Sofia Coppola's Somewhere. She also has a busy year lined up with 4 films set to release including the thriller Super 8.
-Darren Criss – If you're an avid youtube watcher like me, then you probably knew Darren before his big breakout as Blaine on "Glee." He is best known for his work with StarKid productions and as Harry Potter in "A Very Potter Musical." However, his role on the hit FOX show has rocketed him into the public eye and he's got the title for the top selling "Glee" song for his cover of "Teenage Dream." Plus, he is selling out shows at The Roxy and The Mint so fast he has to add matinees. Whether it's in music or acting, Darren will have a great year.
-Jennifer Lawrence – You might not be familiar with Jennifer, but actress has been picking up a bunch of awards for her role in the indie Winter's Bone. You might have overlooked this movie, but it's rumored to be a favorite to receive a nomination for Best Picture at the Oscars. Jennifer is set to take on the role of "Mystique" in X-Men: First Class, so get ready to see more of her.
-Bailee Madison – Bailee is one of my favorite young stars. She first caught my eye in 2007's Bridge to Terabithia and then "Merry Christmas Drake & Josh," but it was her role in last year's hit Brothers with Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman that really helped her breakout onto the scene. Besides being adorable, she can hold her own against these heavy hitters. She's also starred alongside Hilary Swank, Katie Holmes, and she can be seen in the comedy Just Go With It with Adam Sandler & Jennifer Aniston. And if that wasn't enough, she has a recurring role on "Wizards of Waverly Place" this season. She is one of the hardest working 11-year-olds out there.
-Greyson Chance – Greyson became an overnight sensation last night when his version of "Paparazzi" hit youtube. The cover landed him a record deal with Ellen DeGeneres and he's heading out on tour with Miranda Cosgrove. Watch out Justin Bieber…Greyson is ready to make his move!
-Booboo Stewart – Booboo might have caught your attention as the sweet Seth Clearwater in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, but he has been around for a while. Did you know that Booboo was part of the pop group T-Squad a few years ago? He's also an amazing martial artist! Get ready to see more of Booboo on the big screen as his role expands in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn and he's scored a starring role in Jake Stevens: The Last Protector. Plus he's working on music with his little sister Fivel.
-Rooney Mara – Rooney snagged the coveted role of Lisbeth in the US version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Rooney also had big roles in two 2010 blockbusters: The Social Network and A Nightmare on Elm Street. If you haven't yet, definitely watch her in the opening scene of The Social Network.
-Willow Smith – There's no denying Willow Smith is a star. It would be hard to find one person that wasn't singing or humming "Whip My Hair" when the single dropped. While she is the daughter of a powerhouse family, the youngster is definitely making a name for herself. Watch out Rihanna!
Who do you think will be the big stars of 2011?
