For any of you longtime "Degrassi: The Next Generation" fans, you might know Alex Steele best as Craig Manning's half-sister Angela Jeremiah from the first 5 seasons. Well, good news! She's returning to the show, but with a twist…she'll be playing a new character!
According to EW, Alex, who is the little sister of "Degrassi" alum Cassie Steele, will be playing Tori, a character who sounds like she just walked off the set of Toddlers & Tiaras. According to the network, "Tori's parents have indulged her every whim with a stream of dance lessons, kid modeling jobs, and beauty pageants. Having never heard ';no' ... Tori enters grade nine believing she's the best at everything."
So why not bring Alex back as Angela? (We were hoping if they did that that Craig Manning might show back up. Wishful thinking.) "We created the character Tori and put out an open casting call. Out of all the actresses that auditioned, Alex Steele was the best. We debated not casting her because she had previously played Angela Jeremiah, but decided to go with the best actress for the part," said creator Linda Schuyler.
Alex will join a new batch of characters that are set to debut next season, as six characters, including Holly J, will leave at the end of this season, which concludes next month.
Do you still watch "Degrassi"? What other character/actor would you like to see return?
