Amy Adams' reps have confirmed that she will be playing Janis Joplin in an upcoming biopic directed by Fernando Meirelles and produced by Temple Hill Entertainment.

According to EW.com, the movie might not make it to the big screen though. The film does not have a studio partner yet, but Temple Hill is reportedly in talks with Fox Searchlight. Until a deal is made with a studio, funding on the movie remains shaky.

The movie is tentatively titled Get It While You Can and 3 years ago, Catherine Hardwicke & Reese Witherspoon were in talks to direct and star respectively. Even if the movie does get picked up, it would not have a start date until 2011, which means we'd have to wait a while to see the finished product.

This isn't the first time a Janis Joplin biopic has been in the works. Over the past 10 years, two other projects about the artist have been in the works, but have failed to come together.

Fans have been waiting a long time to see Janis Joplin come alive on the big screen. We're keeping our fingers crossed this project works out.
