The casting for the upcoming reboot of the Spider-Man franchise has been very interesting. After screentesting a ton of hot young Hollywood actors, Andrew Garfield won the coveted role.
Now Sony is on the hunt to find the female leads for the movie, of which we hear there will be two roles, but we're not quite sure which characters they will be. Sources are saying they will be Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy, but some say they could be different characters all together.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the studio flew Mia Wasikowska, best known as Alice from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, in from New York to meet with director Marc Webb and Garfield. It also looks like Easy A's Emma Stone recently read with Garfield for the role.
There are no real front-runners yet, but those two fit the profile of MJ and Gwen. Lilly Collins from The Blind Side is another name that has been surfacing in blogs. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out.
The reboot of Spider-Man is supposed to begin filming by the end of the year and is already scheduled for release in Summer 2012.
