Emmy and Golden Globe-winning funnyman Jim Parsons is swapping "The Big Bang Theory's" science laboratory for the Broadway stage after signing up to star in a production of The Normal Heart.
The TV star's portrayal of top physicist Sheldon Cooper has won him huge acclaim, and now he's taking a break from the hit series to make his Broadway debut in the forthcoming show, about a group of HIV/AIDS campaigners in the early 1980s.
Actress Ellen Barkin was previously announced as a castmember in The Normal Heart. Previews begin next month.
