Do you have a loved one serving in the military overseas? If so, we know how hard it is to keep in touch with them, but things are about to change.
In an effort to extend the use of social media for recruiting, the Army just released a free iPhone app and mobile website that would allow any soldier with a smart phone to blog from anywhere.
The app is called "Army Strong Stories," and will allow soldiers to share videos, pictures and text from their iPhone. The mobile website is designed to work on a number of smart phones, including iPhones, BlackBerrys and Androids.
"It is to the great advantage of the U.S. Army to keep current and equip our soldiers with the latest technology to ensure they continue to share authentic stories about their daily lives in the Army," Army Lt. Gen. Benjamin Freakley said in a statement announcing the release of the app. "The Army Strong Stories iPhone app and mobile website reinforce the Army's ongoing commitment to embracing social media and new technology."
