With "Hannah Montana" and "JONAS LA" coming to a close, it's time for a new group of shows to take over Disney Channel. The network just premiered dance show "Shake It Up" and have just announced another addition to their lineup.
Disney Channel has ordered "A.N.T. Farm," which stars 12-year-old China McClain ("House of Payne," "JONAS LA") as middle schooler Chyna Sparks, a music prodigy who gets into a gifted program, Accelerated Natural Talent, at the local high school. She, along with her fellow ANTS, must now navigate the halls of high school where they're not particularly fond of grade-skipping newbies. You might recognize China's voice from "Your Biggest Fan" with Nick Jonas.
In addition to McClain, "A.N.T. Farm" (working title) includes a roster of talented young actors: Sierra McCormick ("Ramona and Beezus"), Jake Short ("Dexter"), Stefanie Scott ("Flipped") and Zach Steel.
Disney XD has also ordered a new show. "Wasabi Warriors" (working title) will star Jason Earles ("Hannah Montana") and Leo Howard ("Leo Little's BIg Show"). Located in a strip mall, the Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy is in danger of closing until Sensei Rudy (Earles) recruits Jack (Howard), the only person who can restore glory to Bobby Wasabi and vanquish their bitter rival The Golden Dragon. Jack reluctantly joins the dojo and meets his new crew - tough guy and slacker Jerry, awkward yet confident Milton and the lovable and uncoordinated Eddie. These underdogs soon realize their newfound friendship will take them places they never quite imagined.
Will you tune in to these shows next year?
