It looks like family friendly movies are going to dominate this weekend's box office receipts.
According to deadline.com estimates, Pixar/Disney's Toy Story 3 is ruling the weekend just as it was expected to with Sony Pictures' remake of the Karate Kid coming in second.

Toy Story 3 is already dominating it's Pixar predecessors, like 2003's Finding Nemo's $70.2 million and 2004's The Incredibles' $70.4 million opening weekends. Estimates right now is for Toy Story 3 to debut to $120 million pulling in $41 million Friday alone due to the higher priced 3D.

Karate Kid is still going strong after it's first week and stays at number two and made $8.9 million Friday and by the end of the weekend, its cumulative should already be $106.5 million.

Megan Fox film Jonah Hex is not even meeting up to Warner Brothers' already low expectations of $10 million now estimated to only pull in about $6 million.

I guess that goes to show that the family movies pull in the big bucks.
