Get ready for one big "Glee" episode on Super Bowl Sunday.
There were talks that the episode would be another tribute episode, but producers have decided against it. According to EW.com, the cast will take on Michael Jackson's "Thriller," which will be performed as a mash-up with another song, yet to be chosen.
The episode, which EW source says will be the most expensive in Glee history and likely one of televsion's priciest episodes ever, will also feature covers of tunes by Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum, and Katy Perry.
The episode will also have a sports theme and will focus on the local football championship and Sue Sylvester's cheerleading regionals (the "Thriller" mash-up will be played during halftime of the onscreen pigskin game).
It will be interesting to see what they mash "Thriller" up with.
Darren Criss' cover of "Teenage Dream" also debuted at #1 in digital track sales. This is the first time a Glee track has landed at #1. The song sold 214,000 tracks, making it the highest debut week sales of any Glee track to date.
The Glee cast surpasses James Brown this week for the #2 most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Last month Billboard magazine reported that Glee had replaced The Beatles for the #3 most entries on their Hot 100 chart, with James Brown at #2 with 91 entries. This week 3 new Glee songs appear on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, taking their grand total of entries to 93. According to Billboard, only Elvis Presley has more entries than Glee with a total of 108 entries on their Hot 100 chart.
