Hi everyone! In this week's episode, I help teach Katie Santry how to do the perfect ponytail that Drew Barrymore has been known to wear.

So ponytails sound like they are easy but for some reason they are one style in our world that always take the longest. I have searched for tips, tricks and special products to make this easier for you girls out there.

1. Tip number one! I know in the video I used a lot of hairspray and for some that might be a little on the scary side. Well there is another option, there is a wax stick called a Toncho stick. It is a wax stick that they use for sumo wrestler ponytails (can we say serious stuff?). It makes it super easy to pull the hair back tightly and keeps all those fly-aways down. Oh and it smells amazing!

2. The elastic band that you use is so important. I recommend using small clear rubber bands; Goodie makes some really nice ones that are very strong. Or if you really want to use something serious to keep that pony in place you could use a hair bungee. Look it up and try it out, once you use a bungee you will never go back to the old school elastics.

3. The brush you use is super important as well. When you are gathering the ponytail I always use a Mason Person brush. They make the most amazing brush ever! After you have all of your hair pulled back into the pony I prefer to use a fine tooth come to get rid of all of the little fly-aways. A tip for when you use your fine tooth comb is not to put it in the hair straight up and down, place it at a 45 degree angle and use it more like a rake. This will prevent you from causing those unsightly bumps that we all hate.

As for the don't's, there aren't really don'ts more just things that I don't prefer.

1. I do not like to use gel when I am doing the perfect pony because I feel like it take much to long to get it to dry and some gels are too stiff to brush through without becoming flaky.

That kinda does it for this look. I hope that some of these trick will help make this style a little bit easier for all you girls out there.

Big hugs!
Tyler
