Jimmie Johnson pulled into victory lane Sunday winning his first road course race at Infineon Speedway in Sonoma, California. This ended Johnson's ten-week victory drought for the four-time defending Sprint Cup Champion.
Although Johnson was the victor, the story of the day belonged to Marcos Ambrose. During a late caution with the lead, Ambrose's car stalled, forcing NASCAR to give the lead to Johnson. Ambrose had to settle for sixth place after leading 35 laps.
Robby Gordon finished in second, earning him his highest finish of the season.
Kevin Harvick now leads the overall standings by twenty-two points over Kyle Busch.
