11-year-old Joey King is joining forces with James Franco, Mila Kunis, and Michelle Williams for the re-imagining of The WIzard of Oz according to Variety.
King has landed the coveted role of China Girl in Disney's Oz: The Great and Powerful. Sam Raimi is directing the 3D fantasy pic, which is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz that finds the titular character arriving in the Land of Oz and being treated like a wizard by the colorful locals.
James Franco and Mila Kunis star alongside Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz, whose villainous character Evanora is an evil witch who has destroyed China Girl's family. Oz takes pity on her and becomes a reluctant surrogate father to the innocent young girl, who is made of porcelain.
The movie is scheduled to start production this July in Michigan, and Disney will release it on March 8, 2013.
King is best known for her breakout role in Ramona & Beezus opposite Selena Gomez and she'll be seen a lot this year in NBC's new series "Bent" and Crazy, Stupid, Love with Ryan Gosling, Steve Carrell, and Emma Stone. She also recently booked a supporting role in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.
