Twilight star Kellan Lutz was left outraged by an internet video of a girl throwing puppies into a river and admits he's haunted by the "disturbing" footage as is anyone who has seen it.
Viewers around the world were stunned by the film, which shows a young girl scooping dogs out of a bucket and hurling them into fast-moving water in Bosnia.
And Lutz, who has previously teamed up with animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), insists the clip is revolting.
In a series of posts on his Twitter, he writes, "I've never been so disgusted before. That video is so incredibly disturbing and plain out (sic) wrong…
"That cruelty and any cruelty to animals helpless or not is unacceptable. I can't get the crying puppies out of my head."
The nameless girl in the video is said to have been identified by authorities, and Lutz is relieved she will face justice – if convicted she could receive a $6,400 fine as a result of a new Bosnian animal cruelty law.
The actor adds, "I'm so grateful that she has been found and even more grateful for the new law! Thank you ALL for taking a stand and using your voices against such actions as this."
