Kim Kardashian has confirmed she will sign a pre-nuptial agreement with her fiance Kris Humphries before they get married because it is the "smart thing" to do.
The socialite became engaged to the New Jersey Nets basketball player in May after a six-month romance and they plan to wed this summer.
Kardashian, who is worth an estimated $35 million, has decided to protect her fortune by signing a pre-nuptial agreement, but she is adamant the contract was "mutually agreed upon" and does not reflect badly on their love.
She tells Jay Leno, "(We) are really open, we're really honest, you know my father made me sign contracts for literally everything, to like get a car, not grow up too fast, like everything I had to sign a contract.
"I think that (signing a pre-nuptial agreement is) a smart thing to do for me and for him… I don't think that it takes away from any kind of love or anything… It's just a smart thing that him and I both mutually agreed upon."
