Rapper Lil Wayne returned to the concert stage in Las Vegas on Saturday night to thrill fans at a Drake show.
The hitmaker, who was released from prison after serving eight months behind bars for an illegal weapons possession charge on Thursday, performed "Miss Me" with his stunned protege. Drake tells MTV News, "Everybody around me was just playing me, including Wayne. I talked to him (Wayne) on the phone and he was like, 'I'll see you in Miami. I got my party. I hope you make it.'
"So I hit Tez, who manages me and Wayne, and I said, 'You're not coming to the last show?' And he was like, ';No man, can't make it.' That's how I hit the stage tonight. I got no surprises for these people. They all think Wayne is coming and he's not coming.
"After the hook of "Miss Me" I heard… Wayne's verse. I didn't quite know what was going on. I looked back and there's the man. I jumped higher than I've ever jumped in my entire life."
Lil Wayne took time to briefly address his fans in the crowd after the song, stating, "I'm fresh home from my vacation and ain't nothing, nothing, nothing like home!"
It has been a jet-setting few days for Wayne since his release – he appeared at a court hearing in Yuma, Arizona on Friday before hopping on a jet and flying to his native New Orleans, Louisiana to meet with family and friends. The rap star is due to attend a welcome home party at an exclusive Miami, Florida strip club on Sunday night.
