For as long as I can remember, I've watched the red carpet coverage with my mother. This year being the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards was no different. (Except for the past few years we have done it over the phone.) This year was full of fresh talent, from the cast of Glee to Modern Family with a little Mad Men in between. I was really rooting to the young girls to outshine, but it was really a toss up for me…….

Lea Michele of Glee seems to be on every red carpet this year, but for some reason I am still not convinced. I would have loved her navy Oscar De La Renta gown except everything was competing to be the star. Between her necklace chocking her and her hair chocking the necklace, I just didn't get it. I think if the make up was a bit toned down with the hair pulled back this would have been a hit for me. Glee wasn't a total bust for me though…

Jayma Mays of Glee played up her ginger locks with a nice 60s tease. The bed-head look really worked for her and the make up was to complement. She was giving me a Nicole Richie vibe.

I always find that I fall in love with January Jones of Mad Men, and tonight was no exception! From first glance, her bleach blond locks and flawless makeup were to perfection. Maybe the royal blue Versace gown was beyond me though?

Never one to be a fan of Tina Fey's fashion choices this year I warmed up a little. The 30 Rock star had a real glow about her. The extensions made her low modern pony perfect and the make up kept her looking young. I have to say this was a vast improvement!

Now to the Men of the evening…..

Mark Salling of Glee seems to be everywhere this year! He graced the carpet with his shaved head and sleek black tux. I thought the fit was to perfection and the skinny tie really completed the look. I would have preferred the shaved head to be about an inch longer, but really I love a shaved head so last night I def became a fan.

I thought Emmy host Jimmy Fallon had a nice classic look as well; then I noticed the overly bronzed face and thought maybe it was for a skit? I was wrong and so was the person that spray tanned him! Orange against a white jacket never looks good (sorry Jimmy)!

Mad Men's Jon Hamm is always on my radar . I can't say he was my favorite of the night, but I can say he looked truly handsome. I mean what else would anyone expect?

How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris looked great in his gray tux with black lapels. His hair was perfectly groomed and his face did not disappoint….perfect bronzer application for a man (Jimmy Fallon take note). Pre-fatherhood is treating him well.

So now my favorite of the night was actually Anna Paquin in her Alexander McQueen dress. The gold embellishments on the shoulders was stunning. I felt the make up could have been pushed to another level, and I also didn't understand the odd dent on the top of her head, but over all her newlywed glow won it for me.

To wrap it up I feel that in years past there has been more glamor, but I did enjoy every moment of the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards.
