Johnny Depp has sailed off with the world's biggest debut ever after the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film took a staggering $346.4 million at international cinemas over the weekend.

The fourth film in the franchise, On Stranger Tides, debuted to $90.1 million in the U.S. alone and scored the biggest ever opening in Russia with $28.6 million.

The film beats the 2009 global opening record set by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ($236 million).

It was also a great weekend for the latest film in the Fast & The Furious franchise – Fast Five crossed the $500 million global box office mark.
