Sarah Michelle Gellar will return to her TV roots for a guest appearance on "All My Children" before the popular soap ends in September.
In a cost-cutting move, ABC TV bosses axed the beloved show earlier this year, sparking an outcry from a number of devoted fans and celebrities who got their big breaks on the program.
Gellar launched her acting career in 1993 as Kendall Hart Lang on the long-running daytime drama and now she's set to return for a cameo. She tells UsMagazine.com, "When I heard that the show was cancelled, I didn't understand. It just doesn't make any sense to me. So I called (the casting director)…and said I wanted to do something. I just wanted to be a part of it. I have no idea what I'm going to do, so we can take suggestions, but I will be doing one day. I'm excited!"
Gellar isn't the only one returning to the show for a final farewell – Transformers star Josh Duhamel will reprise his role as conman Leo de Pres for two episodes beginning on Thursday.
Gellar is also returning to TV this fall in "The Ringer" on the CW. Check out some photos from the show's press conference at the TCA's yesterday.
