It's that dreaded time of year again…back-to-school.
Many of your favorite celebrities picked up some back-to-school items while giving back to several charitable causes at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards Moroccanoil Celebrity Gift Retreat by Backstage Creations earlier this month.
The stars checked out booths from Morroccanoil, Adidas, Texas Instruments, Vivitar, Xcite Fashion and more. What did the stars think of the products?
-Russell Brand, Chace Crawford and Shailene Woodley of "The Secret Life" said they use and love Moroccanoil products. Jennifer Stone added that it makes her hair so soft.
-Booboo Stewart said the Adidas Megas were the most comfortable shoes he ever put his feet in. The guys from Allstar Weekend loved the Megas and commented on how great they look and feel.
-Katy Perry is a huge Hello Kitty fan and was treated to a surprise on show day at Teen Choice. She entered her dressing room to find it completed made over into a Hello Kitty fantasy land. She tweeted a photo within minutes and said "Hello Kitty threw up in my dressing room @ the TCA'S."
-Selena Gomez visited the Xcite Fashion Collection and was excited to pick something really special for one of the girls and asked to receive a photo of the girl dressed in the outfit she selected.
-Taylor Spreitler liked that the InStyler by Tre Milano has a 2 in 1 action to save her time.
Not only did the stars pick up some free swag, they also helped give back. Moroccanoil donated $10,000.00 among World Wildlife Fund (www.worldwildlife.org), Los Angeles-based Much Love Animal Rescue (www.muchlove.org), and Farm Sanctuary (www.farmsanctuary.org) with celebrities that attended the event choosing how the donation was allocated, according to the number of votes each charity received. Stars like Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, David Archuleta, Jennifer Stone and more participated.
Pressman Toy donated toys to City of Hope's children's hospital for each star that played their MASTERMIND game, up to 2,000 toys. Xcite partnered with The Couture Girl's Closet to give dresses to girls unable to purchase their own so they don't miss their homecoming. Texas Instruments also gave the stars the chance to take photos with their new TI-Nspire with Touchpad graphing calculator. The stars also provided inspirational quotes to encourage teens to think about the importance of math and science education – which will be available for fans to vote on. Texas Instruments donated up to $40,000 total in equipment to underserved schools on behalf of the celebrities with the most popular photos.
Taylor Spreitler commented that her dad works with a non-profit organization involved with schools that need help with programs, so she knows how important it is to encourage students to succeed in math and science because they are the future of our world.
So what products did you pick up to get ready for back-to-school? Maybe some new clothes, calculators, shoes, or even style products? Let us know. Good luck with the 2010-2011 school year!
