Transformers: Dark of the Moon film has set the North American box office on fire after landing the biggest single-day ticket sales of the year.

The blockbuster sequel, which stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, and Patrick Dempsey hit cinemas at midnight on Tuesday and went on to shift a staggering $37.3 million worth of tickets in the U.S. and Canada alone in its first 24 hours.

The figure suggests Transformers: Dark of The Moon is on course to break $100 million over the Independence Day weekend.
