On Sunday afternoon, around 300 girls gathered in New York City for the 2nd Annual Allykatzz Tween Summit.
The event took place at New York City's Altman Building where Cambio, along with our friends JSYK and others served as sponsors. Attendees had the chance to use computers to check out both sites and get cool Cambio/JSYK stickers and even Cambio journals.
The Tween Summit brought tween girls from all over together to have fun and talk about ways they can take steps towards changing the world. The program included a lineup of motivational speakers and an activity called DM'ing where the girls wrote inspirational messages for other teens on denim jeans that were later donated to charity.
Other activities included planting trees and plants for Disney's Friends for Change and Ann M. Martin, the author of The Babysitters' Club book series, was on hand to sign copies of her books. The event was hosted by Monique Coleman and featured an appearance by Tiffany Thornton and a performance by girl band Sick of Sarah.
After the event was over, all the girls headed over to NYU's Skirball Center for a fun concert. The concert featured performances by Renaissance Kids, Fefe Dobson, Kicking Daisies, Tiffany Thornton and Mitchel Musso and was hosted by Zach Sang and Monique Coleman.
Fefe did a 3-song acoustic set that included her current single "Ghost." (Stay tuned to Cambio for our recent interview with Fefe). Kicking Daisies took over the stage after Fefe. The band is part of Radio Disney's NBT contest. These four kids definitely have stage presence and rock out. Next up, Tiffany performed her two songs from the recently released "Sonny With a Chance" soundtrack and then introduced her "Hatching Pete" co-star Mitchel Musso. Mitchel performed 7 songs including favorites from his first album and 3 songs from his upcoming sophomore album.
Overall, the day was a fun time for all the tweens and parents. To learn more at the Summits, check out Allykatzz.com.
